5 O’Clock Shadow- October 4th

The original performer comes from Texas and Oklahoma and had a quintessential twang and humor to his songs.  This singer died of lung cancer in 1992 but the song today makes reference to him not having any tobacco.  The song is also a good driving song, which is appropriate since today is National Trucking day. 10-4 Good Buddy . . . Well- he was also posthumously inducted into the Country Music Hall of fame.

The Shadow performer comes from Georgia and have been at it a long time. Their version of the song comes from a B-side and out take album of theirs.  Their guitar player has been quoted ”if there was any justice in the world, ***** ****** should be able to sue for what we did to this song.” But I personally like this version, and I hope you do too.
