The original performer was shot dead December 8th 1980. And on December 20th of that year, 12 days after his death, this song hit No. 1 in the US and the UK. It’s kind of an up beat love song, but posthumously makes a beautiful metaphor of the afterlife.
The Shadow performers take this song and slow it down exponentially and add quite a lot of noise. These OK psychedelic dudes love to do a good classic rock cover. This one was for the original performer’s widow and her Amnesty International project.
Enjoy the Shadow, and tell someone you love them.
