Jimmy Page’s Guitar-Bow Inspiration?

McKendreepage

On this morning’s Total Recall, Bob the Paper Guy fondly looks back at one of his favorite bands McKendree Spring.

The prog-folk-rock band from Upstate New York featured a violin and viola-playing cat named Dr. Michael Dreyfuss, who, by the way, is an actual doctor that taught anatomy to med students (no wonder he went onto rock-n-roll).

A critic for the Village Voice once called Dreyfuss’ use of violin on the McKendree Spring song, “God Bless the Conspiracy”, the most “original use of the violin” ever heard.

On this week’s Total Recall, hear why one axe slinger on Rock’s Mt.Olympus PERHAPS counts this unconventional band as an influence.
