YOUNG AT HEART – March 10, 2018

Our Adult Kid this week is Lead Belly. Lead Belly recorded music for grown-ups and children and was one of the important musicians playing the blues and folk roots of rock and roll. Today we’ll listen to a new installment of smARTbeats, our monthly series talking with a Teaching Artist working in Maryland schools through Young Audiences of MD. We’ll check in with Elias Shutzman, a drummer with Baltimore bands the Flying Eyes and Black Lung, and a Teaching Artist working with Young Audiences and Wolf Trap. We’ll also be Talking Tunes with Brian and Tom – today’s tune is “Everybody Wants to Rule the world” by Tears For Fears. And we’ll hear new music from kindie artists Jazzy Ash and Alex & the Kaleidoscope.

Here’s a captivating video of Lead Belly performing Pick a Bale of Cotton
