WTMD's Virtual First Thursdays

When Covid-19 forced the cancellation of our 2020 First Thursday Festival season, we decided the show must go on, in one form or another. First Thursdays is the city’s biggest free live music series — our love letter to Baltimore — and more than ever, we craved the sense of community that comes with it.

So, we launched Virtual First Thursdays, which began as a livestream but quickly morphed into a two-hour TV special, complete with oddball commercials and regular features like CouchCam and the trivia game Where’s Alex?

One silver lining was, since these First Thursdays were digital, some of the lineups were an indie dream come true. Can you imagine seeing Dawes, Kathleen Edwards, Margo Price and Washed Out for free one night in Canton Waterfront Park? Needless to say, these were some of the most-watched videos ever posted on our Facebook page.

Now that the season is finished, we’ve collected all four of our 2020 Virtual First Thursdays for on-demand viewing. We hope you enjoy watching them as much as we enjoyed making them. And we hope to see everyone back in Canton Waterfront Park again next summer.
